2010 DAAA National Games

Registration is open for the July 2010 Dwarf Athletic Association of America National Games in Nashville. Events will include track and field sports, soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, swimming, boccia, a flag football clinic and a golf outing.

The competition schedule for the 2010 Games is included in the registration forms. Completed forms and fees for athletes are due at the DAAA office in Sebastopol, CA, by Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Please go to DAAA.org for more information of interest to athletes, families, volunteers and sponsors.

Call for Volunteers
for the
Fall 2010 Regional Conference Weekend

The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter will be hosting the upcoming District Conference in the Fall. The Regional will be held at The Embassy Suites Hotel in Monterey Friday-Sunday, October 8-10.Your fellow chapter officers are in the process of putting together a planning meeting to start pulling the pieces together. Here are some of the areas where we need help:

Registration - Everything from setting up registration packets to making sure that we have enough volunteers to cover the conference registration desk in different shifts.
Kids Room - Everything from donating supplies to finding resources to cover the kids room
Teens Room - Everything from donating supplies to finding resources to cover the teens room
Workshops - We need facilitators for each of the three workshop slots that we have built into the schedule. We are open to hearing suggestions for topics that you would like to see covered. Anyone who has someone in mind to run a workshop on a given topic is encouraged to speak up.
Outdoor Teen Activity - The hotel has a park one block away, and we are planning on having a soccer game on Saturday morning or afternoon
Indoor Bocce Ball - Volunteers to help set up the course and facilitate the game
Banquet - Do you have an artistic flair to lend to decorating the banquet? Do you know of a great DJ that you might recommend to provide music for the dance?
Off-site activities - Monterey offers a number of different amenities all within a quick drive of the hotel. The beach is close by. There is an aquarium, recreational park, Cannery Row, Carmel, and Fisherman's Wharf which are all nearby. Do you want to help coordinate an off-site activity.
Golf Tournament - We are making arrangement with the Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course to have a golf tournament either on Saturday afternoon or Sunday after the General Membership meeting. This course is right on the water and should be a lot of fun. We need some volunteers to run the tournament.

If you have any other areas of interest or are willing to help in any area, please contact one of your chapter officers. With everyone's help, we will have a very enjoyable fall conference!

July 2-9, 2010

During the week of July 2-9, the LPA National Conference and DAAA National Games will be held in in Nashville, Tennessee. The conference brochure, registration forms, and hotel information are available online and have been mailed to LPA members during Spring.

The 24th U.S. Games hosted by DAAA will be held July 3-7 in conjunction with the annual LPA National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Events will include track and field sports, soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, swimming, boccia, a flag football clinic and a golf outing. DAAA competitors can download registration forms and submit them to the DAAA office before June 1, 2010.

Food Details:
- Friday dinner and Saturday lunch are on your own. Please bring food for your family.
- Saturday breakfast, Saturday dinner, and Sunday breakfast we'll all enjoy collaborating on the meals. In your RSVP, please let us know which meal you would like to work on.

Daytime Visiting:
On Saturday, September 11, if you want to come and enjoy the great outdoors for the day, but not sleep over, you are welcome to join in for the day and have some fun. Be sure to bring your food and drinks for the day. Barbecues are available in the park, so be sure to bring charcoal if you feel ambitious. Swimsuits, towels, and a change of clothes for the kids is a great idea. Also remember to bring chairs, sunscreen, bikes, roller skates, water shoes (great for the creek if you have them), squirt guns, comfortable shoes, and jackets just in case. Please plan to drop off everything you bring at the camping site and park your car in the day use area, as parking is limited at the camp site.
